Service at Camp Alpine

We pass this along from Camping Services. Anyone who can be of assistance is encouraged to lend a hand.

We, as the Greater New York Councils, wholeheartedly hope that you and your family members and those in your lodges are safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. We understand that many people throughout New York City and throughout the tri-state area are still without power and have days of clean-up ahead of them.

Alpine Scout Camp was one of the locales that was particularly affected and needs help to get back on its feet.

We are reaching to you to get as many Scouts and Leaders in the OA Service Lodges to help us out. Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated. If possible, could you please send this out to your lodges and get as many people out as possible? In preparation for service, please see below:

WHO: OA Scouts and Scouters interested in giving Service to Alpine Scout Camp. (Adult supervision required for Scouts under the age of 18). Roofers and Licensed Electricians would be a great help to our service day.

WHAT: General Camp and Campsite clean-up. Cheerful service to restore Alpine Scout Camp (Debris removal, hedge trimming, raking, etc.)

WHEN: Saturday 11/3/12 from 9 am – 3 pm, ONLY. (There will be no overnight accommodation for anyone).

WHERE: Alpine Scout Camp: Meet in Main Parking Lot

WHY: To restore Alpine and get it open for camping ASAP.

HOW: By coming together in brotherhood and service.

WHAT TO BRING:
Your own Drinking Water
Work Gloves
Boots
Rakes (If you have them)
Hedge and Tree Clippers (If you have them)

WHAT NOT TO BRING
Your own chain saws. The only ones able to use chain saws in camp will be the GNYC Rangers. Please help us to enforce this rule by complying.

HOW TO PREPARE:
Dress Warm (Hats and Gloves)
Spread the Word

HOW ABOUT FOOD?????

We will be providing Lunch to all that come out and help. If you could reply to confirm attendance, it would be greatly appreciated.
